Richmond Public Schools Reopening: What Families Need to Know

School Starts September 8

Students will experience a full instructional day, including a mix of live instruction, independent work, and small group or one-on-one checks. All assignments will be required and graded, and students will receive report cards and transcripts.

For K-12 students, the school day will start at 9:15 am. For Pre-K students, it will start at 9 am or 9:15 am based on the location.

Enroll your preschool or kindergarten-aged child and submit enrollment documents at rvaschools.net/enroll or email enrollrps@rvaschools.net. Enrollment documents can be submitted with a camera phone.

Meal Distribution Begins August 31

Fall meal distribution will begin on August 31 through Richmond Public Schools’ bus system, with over 1,095 stops daily. Most students will be able to pick up their meals between 7 am and 9 am.

All Students Will Receive a Chromebook and Reopen with Love Learning Kit

Each student will receive a Chromebook and Reopen with Love Learning Kit. The Learning Kits include instructional supplies as well as subject-specific materials such as novels and workbooks.

Your child’s school will reach out over the next 2-3 weeks to support your technology needs. Before school starts, make sure you have the following:

  • Your child’s Chromebook
  • Internet access
  • Reopen with Love Kit
